Session 1 (6 Weeks): The World of Glazing

Start at the beginning and move through an array of glaze application techniques. Learn how to manage glazes, track results, and hone the skills and techniques that will ultimately lead to consistent and beautiful results.

  2. Testing 1-2-3: Test Tiles, Glaze Combinations & Layering

  3. Glazing Finesse: Dipping, Dripping & Pouring

  4. Underglaze: Leather Hard & Bisque

  5. Thinking in Patterns: Tape & Wax Resist

6. Glaze Flaws & What to Do About Them

Session 2 (6 Weeks): The Wide Wide World of Glazing

Experiment with new techniques and glazes. Discover the full potential and magic of glazing, developing your signature style along the way. A great class for those who have completed Session 1 OR already get consistently great results from their basic glazing techniques.

  1. Setting Up for Even Greater Success

  2. Underglazes

  3. Carving & Brushing

  4. Sgraffito, Slips & Color Slips

  5. Custom Stencils & Transfers

  6. Spatter, Stipple & Bubble

WHAT IS INCLUDED

  • 12 Hours of dedicated glaze instruction and practice.

  • Glaze, test tiles, clay, latex gloves.

WHAT TO BRING

  • OSHA approved respirator mask stored in a labeled zip lock bag.

  • Pottery Project Journal and pen. Clay'n Around has a journal HERE tailor made for tracking pottery projects.

  • Bisque fired pieces (made with approved mid-fire clay or clay purchased from Clay'n Around Pottery Studio) you would like to glaze.

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Refund requests must be made at least 30 days prior to the start of class. Cancellation incurs a $50 fee per class.

  • Unfortunately, we cannot refund enrollment fees within 30 days of the class start date.

  • There are no credits or transfers for this workshop.
